Client Testimonials

Anna worked as physiotherapist for the Oxford University Boat Club for 9 years where she treated and provided rehabilitation programmes for our rowers for a range of injuries and problems. Anna also implemented injury screening protocols as well as traveling with the team for training camps in France and for their final preparation before the Boat Race. Anna is a very skilled practitioner with extensive experience and understanding of elite sport. Her own experiences as an elite athlete clearly help her understanding of what needs to be done and how to communicate with her patients

As someone who has a history of back issues and two lots of surgery to date, it was always going to be a challenge to get back into competitive rowing after a 2 year break. Fortunately I had the support of Anna to help with my comeback. She was great with hands on treatment and her knowledge and experience from working with top level sports people (as well as being an athlete herself) meant she was always able to offer sound advice on how to train smarter and manage niggles. I always left the sessions feeling physically better, as well as with increased confidence in what I needed to do to remain injury free.

Anna helped me in the first year of my cycling career from various points of view. She has an eclectic approach to sport. In my specific case, in fact, she has helped me not only from the physiotherapeutic point of view, but also with specific exercises and position on the bike. I spent many hours on the bike with Anna, and it was with her that I started my first real training sessions. Her strength is that she herself is a strong athlete and understands the needs of an athlete, from the beginner to the professional.

Anna was an integral part of our team in the lead up to the boat race in 2013, helping me and my teammates with injuries, screening and our core stability programme.

Anna, Frankie and TOPS / Oxford Sports Physio & Pilates have been a tremendous help in getting me back on track and in top shape after my recent accident. Without their expertise and assistance I fear the recovery process would have taken much longer and my return to elite sport would have been delayed. I would highly recommend them for anyone coming back from injury!”

Anna treated me for a number of injuries (playing International rugby takes a toll on the body!) and helped me get back on the pitch fully recovered and back to full fitness. After I tore my MCL ahead of the Six Nations in 2012 Anna treated the torn ligament and also put together a comprehensive gym programme that helped return stability and strength to the knee. Her intensive treatment got me back on the pitch ahead of schedule. I couldn't have played as many matches as I did without her treatment - as an athlete herself she understood my needs and what was required to get me back operating at the level required.

The quality of the Pilates classes is outstanding compared to other places. The classes are also really good fun, the teachers adjust the levels of the exercises to the needs of different participants, and the exercises have made a huge difference for my back post-birth and really helped me improve my core strength.

Oxford Sports Physio & Pilates has changed my life. I’m not perhaps the best advert for organised exercise but I have found just the right amount of real challenge and felt benefit from rising to it, not to mention fun, and the teachers are superb – first Jenny and now Frankie.

The Pilates classes are taught really well by experienced and well-qualified teachers who are careful and attentive to the needs of the students, challenging them to work hard if they want to, while suggesting more achievable alternatives if appropriate. I've been attending classes regularly for a couple of years and will continue to do so, as I feel I get great benefit from them. The facilities are good and the organisation is efficient.

I have been really impressed by the physio services at Oxford Sports Physio.  The physios are knowledgeable, experienced and approachable.  The advice I've received has always been practical - including rehab exercises that I can realistically fit into my daily life!  Highly recommended.

I started doing Pilates after struggling with recurring sciatica. Since starting regular classes I've not had any more bouts requiring time off work. The classes are taught by caring and experiences teachers, and it's become a fantastic part of my weekly routine.

Anna suggested I try pilates after some physio sessions for a hamstring injury - one of the best recommendations I've ever had, thank you Anna!  I've been amazed at the improvement in my overall strength and stability.  The classes are fun and friendly, and the teachers are brilliant, pushing us just the right amount, and always giving options for us to work to our own level, accommodating injuries where necessary.  I've become quite evangelical about pilates - everyone should do it!

I started Pilates because I both wanted to improve core fitness and because of mental health. I have now been doing it for about eighteen months and can confirm: a)  I am no longer ‘Bambi’ whilst doing exercise – I have some core strength – yay. b)   I find Pilates incredibly helpful for my mental health – whilst I’ve struggled with ‘mindfulness’ exercises or meditation in the past, I have found that concentrating on moves in Pilates has had the positive effect of giving me an hour to myself, unhindered by stressful thoughts because I’ve been absorbed in Pilates. The teaching has been supportive, thorough and fun – I could not want more.

Thank you all very much.
